1) Please check if there is a recording indicator on the recorder monitor.
    The recording indicator icon is different for each recorder model, so please refer to the manual provided at the time of purchase.

2) You can check the list of HDDs installed in the recorder and their status by entering the Disk menu in the Device menu from the Recorder menu.
